Trying to fathom what is happening to our world right now is a heavy process. Destruction feels constant and the pain felt in its wake is palpable. This world is not ours to own and destroy. It is our host, our womb, our mother. It's difficult to comprehend how ruination could have gone so far. Difficult to comprehend how we could be so careless towards such a sanctuary, a miracle of creation. How have we become so angry towards each other and so greedy towards our mother and our home. Greed - Anger - Fear - They have had control of us for centuries. Existential crisis is happening in overwhelming numbers. Sadness is visible and anxiety is close at hand. Fear is not working. Data has been shared and circulated: the number of people killed this year by gun violence, the rate at which sea levels are rising and coast lines receding, percentages of coral reefs dying, forests burning, powerful people playing with the livelihood of others, animals being killed, animals being raised to kill. The list goes on in burdensome length. Making it overwhelming for each of us to feel as if we could make a difference in saving the world. For some of us, overwhelm has shifted into grief. Empaths are more prominent today than they have ever been in the modern world. There is new movement into a very old way of understanding ourselves and the world around us. We have forgotten what it means to live in conjunction with the earth and in harmony with our community. While our community has grown exponentially, our world is smaller than ever. This dichotomy means that our new generation of empaths are able to feel sorrow and grief for those people and places who are hurting all over the globe. It is a profound shift, and the fuel for a universal awakening. Grief takes us deep within and allows us to more clearly understand what is truly vital to our existence. We could easily get stuck in the depth, becoming numb, blocked and apathetic. In creating an allowance for grief to be felt and a platform for it to be shared we will hopefully be able to move through it. Pausing in our grief creates space to stop and notice what it is that is truly valuable. As we grieve together in universal community, we can together move forward and through to hope. Though mystifying, hope is there, waiting for us on the other side of this fog. The way to revelation is to go deeper. Find a space to share your grief, sadness and disbelief. Vocalize hopelessness and show others that they are not alone in it. Help to rebuild our community through understanding, acceptance and love. We have to move through this together. Love to you all, Eliza
